The media rarely deems stories of people reaching across the conflict news worth covering. But when a Jewish nurse at a Jerusalem hospital breastfed a nine-month old Palestinian baby wounded in a car accident, it made the Hebrew-language papers. The baby's mother was in critical condition, and the baby refused a bottle day after day until the family was beside themselves. When a Jewish nurse sat down to breastfeed the little boy his relatives were initially flabbergasted.Their image of Jews didn't fit with that nurse who cared enough for that small Palestinian to offer herself to him. The nurse just saw a baby in distress, and she rallied others to his cause. Her small act will change the way that Palestinian family views their enemies, the Israelis, forever.
